ACTIVE TAG, An active tag contains a battery and does not require power from the reader to transmit a signal. One of three main tag types, the other two being semi-passive and passive. An active tag is usually larger and more expensive than the other tag types. Active tags can be used for asset tracking.
ACTUAL VERSUS PREDICTED TRAFFIC RATE (APTR) One of many ratios used to evaluate RFID systems. The APTR compares the actual traffic through the system or interrogation zone, against the expected results.
ADJACENT CHANNEL INTERFERENCE Interference caused by a signal with a frequency close to the frequency used by the RFID system.
AGILE READER A RFID reader that supports multiple protocols and frequencies.
